Weekend Warrior - August 30 - September 1

Hopefully you have Monday off to recover from this week’s Weekend Warrior pick. SRA Records will be hosting its 10th Anniversary Bash this Sunday at PhilaMOCA. The local indie label is never shy about bringing us some of the heaviest, hardest-hitting acts to come out of Philly. The celebration’s stacked lineup will consist of SRA family & friends – Chronic Anxiety, Psychic Teens, The HIRS Collective, Soul Glo, Solarized, Exmaid, FOD, and Gene London Calling. Get there early for the matinee hours and beyond! And if you happen to be one of the unfortunate ones who don’t have Labor Day off, then just quit already because they obviously don’t appreciate you. – Alexis V.

Debut Exmaid LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Exmaid, which unites Miranda Taylor (Hunchback, Full Of Fancy, Black Wine, Noun) with the power trio of Psychic Teens, recently dropped their debut LP, Fair Sex, via SRA/Don Giovanni Records. Taylor leads the way, navigating through narration with a deadpan sincerity. Meanwhile, the passageway is muddied with a menacing, primal grunginess, which looms like an ominous cloud or lingering shadow figure. There’s a brooding, ripping backdrop clearing a course for the clairvoyant vocals. A window of accessibility is opened, and brutal honesty is the result. You can catch Exmaid's record release show this Saturday, April 21 at Long In The Tooth, where they'll be supported by Dialer.

New Track: "Devoted" - Exmaid

Miranda Taylor (Black Wine, Full of Fancy, Hunchback) unites with the trio of Psychic Teens to form Exmaid. On April 6, the quartet will release its debut LP Fair Sex via SRA Records and Don Giovanni. With its lead single, “Devoted,” Taylor sings of switching gears, as an enthusiastic, battering-ram riff clears an opening of possibility; it's bright with a brutal edge. And on Saturday, April 21, Long In the Tooth will be hosting the band’s record release show with Dialer.
