The Waking Point

A Deli Premiere: The Waking Point covers Nirvana's "Something In The Way"

We covered Sadie Belica's single "Bad Girl" earlier this summer; now, under her moniker The Waking Point, she's released a cover of Nirvana's "Something in the Way". Faithful to the original, Belica echoes Kurt Cobain's darkness and the urgency of his voice, while adding her own touch to the classic grunge track. Layers of sound and reverb give the song new depth without muddling it, so that Nirvana fans will recognize and accept the cover as a suitable homage to Kurt's vision. Neo-grunge DIY act The Waking Point releases new single "Bad Girl"

DIY newcomer Sadie Belica released "Bad Girl" earlier this month; it's the latest single from her project The Waking Point in 2020. Leaning into the grunge vibe, "Bad Girl" portrays an abusive relationship through Belica's intense vocals and instrumentation. During the pandemic, Belica has put out music through which she airs out her most painful experiences; you can hear the trauma in every beat of "Bad Girl", which you can listen to below. After that, take a listen to Belica's "Rose Colored Violence", her debut release this year. - Will Sisskind
