Born in Boston as the project of singer-songwriter Ella Joy Meir and guitarist and composer Asher Kurtz, Iris Lune is now a Brooklyn based quartet, and plays expansive, mellow pop with ambient influences and jazzy inclinations. In single 'Triplets' (video streaming below) the band utilizes atmospheric vocal samples and electric piano to create a fluid drone on which Ella's mellow vocals float adrift. Iris Lune will be performing at Rough Trade on December 11 with two other interesting and like-minded local acts: Arthur Moon and Nozart.

After a super successful first night, and an allstar line-up, Deli NYC sponsored event The Hum returns for its second week at beautifully intimate Greenpoint venue Manhattan Inn. For those just tuning in now, the month-long residency, presented by Hypnocraft, is aimed at spotlighting female musicians across a wide variety of genres, and inspires unexpected collaborations. Monday night's line up promises to be atmospheric and experimental, including musicians from Space Captain, Iris Lune, and MADEIRA. Just last month, Brooklyn avant-pop sextet Arthur Moon released its sonorously boisterous debut EP, ‘Our Head.’ Starting with the reverb-backed call to awareness “Room” and featuring “Bold Affair” (streaming below), a drum-nicked, Deradoorian-esque track that is as romantically audacious as its title, the four-track effort doesn’t just marvel in its ability to meld disparate genres (rock, minimalism, art-pop, amongst them) but also in the way it imbues vulnerability with calmness; one may just find solace in these beatific songs.
