New Luke Harsel Album Available for Streaming & Download

Luke Harsel (of Dweller) has released a collection of songs, titled Objects in the Mirror. Absorb the ambient-folk sounds as they provide a graceful, gliding, slightly-warped atmosphere. It is best to be listened to when day turns to night and night turns to day. Tomorrow evening, you can find Harsel performing with Dweller at The Grape Room, with The Barker Brothers, Coleman Rigg & The Ridge Runners, and The Savories.

Singer/Songwriter Kira Metcalf plays Elsehwere on July 24

In her blend of folk and pop Brooklyn-based artist Kira Metcalf mixes poetry with a variety of genres. Listening to her new LP Indelicate, this young talent writes songs about women's experiences with the self-assuredness of a seasoned performer and an enviable introspective quality. Opening track "I Had a Head," is an acappella number that is as satisfying for its harmonizations as it is for Metcalf's voice. "Thornbird" is an unexpected change in style, in part reminiscent of rock songwriters of 90's like The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan or - more recently - Paramore's Hayley Williams.

Her new music video for "Lily" is equally poignant, showcasing Kira's keenness to investigate moments that escape most of us. The line, "to have what I crave feels like a trick" is the song's takeaway and the perfect summary of a personality that enjoys intellectual and lyrical reflection over... simple enjoyment. Kira Metcalf will perform live at Elsewhere's Zone One on July 24th. - Susan Moon

Bluegrass artist Billy Strings releases "Taking Water" from upcoming sophomore album

Billy Strings has released "Taking Water", his first single from his upcoming sophomore album HOME, set to come out on September 27th. While Michigan-born Strings' acoustic-heavy sound remains undeniably bluegrass -- complete with accompaniment from the banjo, fiddles, and bass -- he finds ways to add in hints of punk, ambient, and psych rock to his tunes. It results in a gripping country sound that makes a song like "Taking Water" a breathtaking listen. Strings will hit the road this month on a nationwide tour supporting the release of HOME; catch him in Nashville when he returns for a show on September 11th at Americanafest. Take a listen to "Taking Water" below. - Will Sisskind
