Allison Crutchfield Signs to Merge Records

Congrats to Allison Crutchfield (Swearin', P.S. Eliot), who just announced that she'll be joining her sis, Katie Crutchfield (a.k.a. Waxahatchee), on the roster at Merge Records! Her yet-to-be-titled LP will be out next year. Here's what Allison had to say about this momentous occasion.

“Signing with Merge was always sort of a fantasy milestone in my mind, like winning an Oscar or opening a bakery in New England. It was something I dreamed about a hundred times as a teenager but never thought could actually happen. I’ve been fortunate enough to really get to know the Merge family over the last year, and now that I’m a grown-up, I’m so grateful to be able to call Merge home.”

New Video: Le Révélateur (Trailer) - Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler

Mary Lattimore & Jeff Zeigler have a new LP coming out, called Music Inspired by Phillippe Garrel’s Le Révélateur. It's an original soundtrack/score for the short experimental film that is meant to capture the civil unrest occurring in Paris in May, 1968, which lead to a virtual halt of the French economy. The footage was purposely left silent. The album comes out on July 22 via Thrill Jockey, and the duo, who premiered the live soundtrack, along with the movie, in February at the Getty Museum in LA and has already performed it twice in Philly, will be bringing the event to Brooklyn on Tuesday, July 26 at the Nitehawk Cinema. Check out the beautiful trailer for the collaboration below!

EZTV unveils single 'High Flying Faith' from upcoming LP + plays The Bell House on 07.15

As further proof that youngsters, at some point, tend to "become" their parents, Brooklyn trio EZTV seems to have transictioned to a revival tinged, but richer and more vibrant sound, directly inspired to the psychedelic pop of the '60s. New single "High Flying Faith" sounds like a tribute to The Byrds, while maintaining a fresh and modern sound. The bright, chiming tone of the guitars is a striking new element, while the guest vocals from Jenny Lewis, whom the band will be supporting on tour this summer, integrate Ezra Tenenbaum's already dreamy melodies in ways that scream "Flower Power!" EZTV will be playing the Bell House on July 15th in support of Miracle Legion and Out in the Streets Festival on July 16th before heading out with Lewis. Their album High In Place will be released on September 30th via Captured Tracks. - John Honan

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best psych rock/pop songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

New Music Video: "Primetime" - Cold Fronts

Cold Fronts' Craig Almquist gets involved in some "real life gaming," and once again takes the opportunity to enjoy his hoverboard on camera in the band's new music video for "Primetime". Directed by Josh Goldenberg, the visuals wax and wane to the ebb and flow of the fan favorite, found on Forever Whatever (Sire Records). Cold Front will be kicking off a northeast run on Tuesday, July 26 at Johnny Brenda's with The Kickbacks and Church Girls

New Track: "Brett (Maps Remix)" - Vita and the Woolf

Sleek, sinister, strolling sounds are injected as UK producer Maps provides a personal stamp, remixing electro-pop duo Vita and the Woolf’s “Brett”. Jen Pague’s soulfully powerful vocals echo, gaining a percussive uptick, ushering movement as a new space emerges. We’ll keep our eyes and ears alert as more info for their album TUNNELS (due out later this year) surfaces. (Photo by Phobymo)
